One of the markers of maturity in leadership is a focus on self-responsibility. Getting clearer about one's own contribution to what goes on, and working to modify oneself is an important, and often uncomfortable, leadership skill / mindset. What else can one really control other than one's own behavior? Influence and effectiveness increase proportionally to the level of responsibility one takes for oneself.
