Master Hidy Ochiai
Through Shoshin Leadership, Inc., Stan Proffitt embodies an integrated approach to Executive and Leadership Team Development, synthesizing concepts and principles from more than 30 years of study of the martial arts, more than 20 years of leadership and leadership development experience and a multitude of scientific bodies of work.
Notably, his study with Master Hidy Ochiai has afforded Stan with a unique perspective on the inner workings of the human mind, with an emphasis on the development of self-awareness, self-responsibility, self-regulation and respect for self and others. Master Ochiai
is one of the foremost world-renowned martial arts masters. Stan likens having the opportunity to study martial arts and human development with Master Ochiai to having the opportunity to study music with Beethoven.
After more than 30 years of training, Stan continues to advance his understanding of the deeper meaning of martial arts training, as well as its application to self-leadership and promoting growth in others.
Stan's effort to integrate the deeper meaning of his martial arts training with the science-based research of Dr. Murray Bowen has resulted in a unique combination of theory that illuminates patterns in human functioning and methods of cultivating calmness, clarity and courage. The synthesis of Bowen Family Systems Theory, Biology/Evolutionary Biology, Neuroscience and martial arts has enabled Stan to help leaders understand not just what shifts to work on to become a more effective leader, but how to go about making those shifts as well.
Stan's work represents an invitation to join him on the path to self-leadership and high-value coaching and mentoring that he walks everyday. Stan works to be a living example of what he teaches, as he uses his own growth, with the highs and lows of his own journey, as a case study for examination.
